Therapeutic Listening

Therapeutic Listening is a sound-based approach to addressing a variety of needs. This program is embedded in a developmental and sensory integrative perspective. The music has been designed, selected, and modified to capture attention and activate body movement. Therapeutic Listening influences the self-organizing capacities of the nervous system through they use of rhythmical sound, electronic modifications, and organized patterns.

Those who can benefit from a Therapeutic Listening program may exhibit

poor attention or ability to follow directions

difficulties interacting with peers and limited play skills

challenges with transitions or changes in routine

difficulty communicating (both verbal and non-verbal)

struggles with sleep, bowel and bladder control, and eating

challenges perceiving and navigating space

poor timing and sequencing of motor skills

difficulties with irritability, mood, or regulating their energy level

postural insecurity (fear of heights, playing on playground equipment)

poor praxis and motor planning
